The mystifying matter of the missing petition
It would indeed be considered a major issue within CCP if anyone tried to suppress evidence by deleting a petition, as was claimed to have happened with a petition filed to complain about CCPs Sharkbait joining a player corporation. This missing petition was considered by many to be the 'last straw' and to have justified the attack on our forums and on our reputation, using all available methods and media.
But as has already been touched on, deleting a petition is simply not an option once itÆs been created, which is probably something someone didnÆt take into account before launching this accusation. No player petitions have been deleted from our database since launch that I am aware of, so this is quite some claim to make and certainly something to investigate.
After looking into this matter and interviewing the people involved, including the player that filed the petition, I can say with full conviction that this petition never got to us. The player has confirmed that he disconnected when he pressed the send button, making this a classic example of a client crash and clear evidence that the petition was never received and therefore never deleted. Quite why the assumption was then made that the petition had been deleted by CCP is not clear to me, but IÆll settle for knowing we had nothing to do with it.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAIT!

This instance was brought about as the result of a player-submitted petition. Sharkbait joined the corporation to investigate and resolve an issue reported by a member of the corporation in question.
You just said there WAS NO PETITON
So, if there was no petition then he DID enter the corp for an UNKNOWN reason!
Isn't that a little FUNNY there Arkanon?

Sharkbait was investigating on behalf of GMs over the original petition.
Here Arkanon is talking about the follow up petition asking why Sharkbait had been in the corp.
You know, the one that CCP deleted - proving they had something to hide. The proof of corruption that required the threadnaught.
The petition which, it turns out, never existed.
Go figure..
He better clarify which one he is talking about before my question reaches other eyes.

The petition as evidence doesn't hold up, timestamps are removed and the petition is made from an NPC Station in Delve by the Dread pilot who was supposed to be out in space fighting for sovereignty.
Good point. (and I fixed the typo in sovereignty :D) That does raise the question of that petition......
Unless it was an alt - but if it was an alt petitioning then why was the mains character not the one mentioned as being bumped?

You can track/record/archive instant messaging information just as easy as Email. Its trivially simple to record the contents of anything going through your firewall, we do it all the time.
Yes, you can encrypt it. But then you raise another flag resulting in an immediate investigation as to why encrypted data was going to an outside source.
